The Jersey Damage came into the series
as an underdog to the Los Angeles Halos but managed to squeak out a
series win 4 games to 2. Sonny Gray was the MVP of the series
winning 2 games while Mark Teixiera of Los Angeles nearly won the
series for LA all by himself. Teixeira later found out he was
not on the 27-man keeper list of the Halos for 2017 and promptly
declared himself a free agent heading into the off season.
Game 1: LAH 8, JER 2:
The
Yankee connection for the Halos took charge of this game early with
HR by Teixiera and Brett Gardner and cruised to an easy 8-2 win.
Dallas Keuchel stynmied the bats of Jersey allowing just 4 hits as
LAH took a 1-0 series lead. Jordan Zimmermann of Jersey gave
up 7 earned runs and Aroldys Chapman served up a Tex Message that
put the game out of reach.

Game 2: JER 7, LAH 2
Jersey turned to Sonny Gray for game 2
in Los Angeles and while he struggled with command pitched well
enough to earn the win and even the series at one game each.
Shelby Miller of LAH took the loss lasting just 3 innings.
Andrew Miller and Hunter Strickland closed out the game with 2.2
scoreless innings and homers from David Ortiz and Adam Jones were
enough offense for Jersey.

Game 3: JER 4, LAH 3
The pivotal game of the series was
possibly the best one as Jersey squeaked out a 4-3 win to take a 2-1
series lead. Tyson Ross started for LAH and despite not giving
up a hit was pulled in the 2nd inning in favor of a lefty-lefty
match up which worked out for LA as Andrew Chafin went 2 scoreless
innings. Teixiera hot another homer and LA enjoyed a 3-2 lead
heading into the 6th inning. Franklin Gutierrez and Brandon
Belt doubles tied the game at 3 setting up David Ortiz 8th inning HR
as the difference maker. Andrew Miller and Mark Melancon shut
down the Halos in the 8th and 9th inning preserving the win.

Game 4:
JER 4, LAH 1
Jersey turned to LHP Gio Gonzlaez for
game 4 and he responded with 6 innings of one run ball en route to
getting the win. Franklin Gutierrez was 3 for 3 including a
homer and Adam Wainwright and Aroldys Chapman closed out the last 3
innings giving Jersey a 3 games to 1 lead.

Game 5:
LAH 5, JER 3
Facing elimination, Los Angeles turned to Keuchel again and Dallas
delivered with 7 scoreless innings Kuechel had the Jersey
batters off balance all night and the Halos withstood a late rally
by Jersey to hold on and send the series back to Los Angeles.
Francisco Cervelli had 3 hits and Hector Ronbon closed the game out
in the 9th.

Game 6:
JER 4, LAH 0
Sonny Gray threw 3 hit ball over 6
innings and Wainwright and Miller closed out the Halos for the
series win. The Jersey offense all came in one inning which
started with a Nelson Cruz homer and ended with Salvador Perez's
only hit of the series (a 2 run homer).
