An ongoing feature on the TBBL web
site will include monthly
interviews with some of our
league members. Catching
up with our resident Pro Bowler
Marc Kramer:
TBBL: Hello and thanks for
taking the time to be
interviewed. How are you doing
today?
Marc: I am doing very well as I
just got home from my 25th
wedding anniversary cruise.
TBBL: Please tell us a little
bit about yourself. Married?
Kids? Where did you grow up,
what college did you attend (if
you did), and where do you see
yourself in 10 years from now?
Marc: I am married with a
daughter that is attending the
college of Charleston. I was
born and raised in Brooklyn, NY
and have lived in Southeastern
Florida for the past 9 years. I
attended New York Institute of
Technology many years ago and
ended up working in an area that
had nothing at all to do with my
degree. In ten years I will
start to think about retired
life although I doubt that I
would be ready to retire at that
time.
TBBL: You told us that you
were a former Pro Bowler, tell
us a little about how that
started for you and what is your
biggest highlight in that sport?
Marc: The Pro Bowling story is
really sad. I was working at
Ernst & Young and lost my job
after 9/11 along with many
thousands of fine people. It was
really hard to find work then as
you could well imagine. Now on
to the bowling part. When I was
young I was a very good bowler.
Not pro quality but good. I
injured my knee and needed
arthroscopic surgery and then
did not bowl in around 8 or 9
years. My nephew wanted to bowl
in an adult/junior league and
there was no one to bowl with
him but me. I bowled real well
for him and people took notice
and asked me to bowl in the big
house league. I was averaging
around 225 when I lost my job
and figured that I had nothing
to lose by turning Pro.
TBBL: Do you have any players
on the trading block currently?
Marc: LOL. I always have players
on the trading block.
TBBL: If there was one trade
that you could take back, which
trade would that be? And what's
the best trade you've made to
date?
Marc: I do not recall a trade
that was that bad or that good
for me.
TBBL: Shifting to the MLB
now, who's your favorite team
and why?
Marc: I like the Florida
Marlins. My fondest memory was
taking my daughter to the
Marlins vs. Yankees world
series.
TBBL: Which baseball stadiums
have you visited and which is
your favorite?
Marc: I used to travel a lot for
business so I have been to many
stadiums. I like two newer ones
and one old one. My favorite
newer ones are Camden Yards and
the Ballpark at Arlington. The
older one is Fenway Park. If I
had to pick one of them it would
have to be Fenway Park.
TBBL: Who is your favorite
baseball player, both current
and all time?
Marc: Current – Albert Pujols.
All Time Tom Seaver
TBBL: What is your favorite
movie of all time?
Marc: Star Wars – The first one.
TBBL: Tell us something about
yourself that may surprise us.
Marc: I used to be a part owner
in a few Race Horses.
TBBL: Who do you have the
biggest rivalry with in the TBBL
and why?
Marc: It has to be Greg. He
always has one leg up on me.
TBBL: What other DMB leagues
are you apart of and tell us a
little about your favorite
league (other than the TBBL of
course)
Marc: I am in many right now. I
have really grown fond of retro
leagues. My favorite has to be
BDWL and getting Tom Seaver with
the first pick of that draft.
TBBL: If you were TBBL
commissioner for a day, what
would you change and why?
I think that you would know my
answer to this one. I would
change the overuse penalty to
actually fit the crime. With
that said I am fine that the
league looked at this topic and
came to a conclusion for the
whole league.
